Candidate screening.A serious read for every applicant.
Candidate screening software helps you decide who to interview. Cernor reviews every application against your role requirements, shows why each person is promising and asks about important unproven claims.
No credit card required.
A shortlist is only useful if your team can defend it.
A ranked order may help a team start. The harder question comes next: why did this person place here, what supports the view, and what could still change it? Cernor keeps that work open for inspection.
Ask to see the agreed requirements, supporting experience and remaining questions behind a score. Our research note The Decision Starts Where the Application Stops explains how to assess that depth.
A result without the work
A position in a list is hard to trust when the criterion, evidence and remaining uncertainty are missing.
Words, not claims
Matching a phrase in a resume is not judging whether it holds.
No version
When the bar moves mid-search, nothing says what governed the earlier reads.
This gets worse with volume. See what happens when there are hundreds of applications.
Set the hiring bar before the first application can influence it.
Cernor drafts requirements from your job description. Your team agrees what is essential, important or advisory and what evidence would satisfy each requirement. This is your Standard. If you change it later, Cernor shows which recommendations moved and why.
The bar is set once.Everyone is measured against it.
Read every criterion as evidence, not a keyword match.
Cernor does not return a verdict on a criterion without the part of the record that supports it. A claim the record contradicts and one it simply never makes are different findings, and they lead to different actions.
AI candidate screening should make the judgment easier to inspect, not harder. The model performs the read; the Standard, the evidence and the final authority stay explicit and stay yours.
The record carries evidence that meets the criterion.
Some evidence, short of what the criterion asks for.
Nothing in the record speaks to it either way.
The record’s own account works against the claim.
How strong is the career for this role?
How well does the record support the important claims?
A strong candidate can still have an open question.
A gap becomes a question, not a rejection.
When a criterion is Open, the honest answer is that nobody knows yet. Cernor builds Follow-Up from the evidence gap that still matters for this candidate. What it asks next depends on what the candidate just answered, so the path can test ownership, scope, proof or consistency instead of sending everyone the same questionnaire.
Cernor evaluates what comes back and shows whether the recommendation strengthened, weakened or stayed unresolved, with the reason attached.

What the hiring manager actually receives.
Get a recommendation for each candidate: who to interview, why, what Follow-Up established and what the interview should still test. The supporting evidence and the role requirements stay attached.

Teams that have to defend the shortlist.
Small teams hiring senior roles
No screening committee to convene, and every resume still has to be read properly.
Technical and specialist hiring
Where the claim on the page and the depth behind it are not the same thing.
Anywhere the decision is reviewed
When someone will later ask which bar applied and what the evidence was.
Common questions.
What is candidate screening software?
Software that helps a hiring team decide who should move forward before interview. Products may filter, rank, test, converse or evaluate evidence. Cernor reads the whole cohort against one Standard and returns the criteria, evidence, Trust and next action behind each recommendation.
How is this different from resume keyword matching?
Keyword matching looks for a phrase. Cernor judges whether the record actually supports the criterion, and marks it Supported, Partial, Open or Contradicted with the passage attached. A claim the record contradicts is treated differently from one it never makes.
How does Cernor use AI in candidate screening?
AI drafts role-specific criteria, surfaces the choices that could change who advances and performs the read against the approved Standard. Your team reviews and locks the bar before evaluation, can inspect the evidence behind every criterion and retains every hiring action.
Does Cernor reject candidates automatically?
No. Cernor produces an Action such as Interview Ready, Human Verify, Follow-Up Out, Hold or Decline, with the evidence behind it. A person makes the final hiring decision, and the Standard version that governed the read is recorded alongside it.
What happens when a resume is missing something?
The criterion is marked Open rather than treated as failure. If the gap could change the recommendation, Cernor builds targeted Follow-Up for the team to review. Returned answers become new evidence against the same Standard, so the recommendation can strengthen, weaken, hold or remain unresolved.
Does Cernor replace our ATS?
No. Your applicant tracking system keeps the applications, the records and the stages. Cernor runs the screening decision in between and returns a Decision Packet: who to interview, why, and what is still open. Cernor supports ATS-connected workflows, and connecting one is optional for the Trial.
